How Does CoolSculpting Work?
This is one of the most common CoolSculpting questions we are asked at Mara’s by local Dallas residents. The CoolSculpting treatment utilizes a process called cryolipolysis, in which fat cells in the specifically treated area are crystallized (frozen). The fat cells are damaged and die – a process called apoptosis, or programmed cell death. Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells.
After a CoolSculpting treatment, a deep-tissue massage is done to mobilize the fat that has been released from the damaged fat cells. The two-minute massage can help improve the lymphatic drainage of the fat.
What Does The CoolSculpting Treatment Feel Like?
Your CoolSculpting treatment in Dallas begins with your consultation with one of our CoolSculpting Technicians. The target areas on your body are properly marked, and a protective gel is applied to the treatment area(s). Then, the machine is applied to the skin and allowed to run for as little as 3-5 minutes.
During the first 3 minutes, you can expect to feel targeted cold in the area, and during minutes 3-5, you may feel a slight cold tingling sensation – like if you were to stick your hand in an ice chest. After this stage, the area will be numb for the rest of the procedure, and for some minutes after treatment.
During this process, the patient is made as comfortable as possible. The actual treatment process is fast and easy, and you can bring a book, check your email or Facebook, or just sit back and relax during the treatment.
How Many Areas Can I Treat with CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting has been approved by the FDA for use in 9 common problem areas: abdomen, flanks, submental area (neck and chin), the submandibular area (below the jawline), bra fat, back fat, inner and outer thighs, upper arms and underneath the buttocks. How Long Does It Take to See Results?

Fat cell death happens over time, it is not instantaneous. Thus, the results of CoolSculpting treatments are seen over a period of a few months. Are There Any Side Effects From CoolSculpting Treatments?
