Laser Treatments Offer Hope and Relief From The Discomfort and Embarrassment of Rosacea
Laser treatments for rosacea offer hope and relief for the over 14 million Americans who live with this uncomfortable, often painful, and embarrassing chronic condition. At Mara’s Med Spa, our laser treatments are safe, proven, and effective at reducing the visibility and discomfort of rosacea.
What is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory skin disease that primarily appears on the face, especially the nose and cheeks. The condition manifests as areas of redness and irritation and, at first glance, may appear to be acne. But upon a closer look, they are actually clusters of pustules or bumps. In addition to the face, rosacea can also appear on the ears, chest, and back.
While genetics are a factor for some individuals with rosacea, other factors can increase the likelihood of experiencing rosacea symptoms, including:
- Abnormalities in blood vessels
- Smoking
- Being between 30 and 50 years old
- Having fair hair, light skin, and light eyes
- Demodex folliculorum, a usually harmless microscopic mite
- H. pylori bacteria, found in the gut, produce proteins that cause blood vessels to dilate.
- Cathelicidin, a protein that usually protects the skin from infection, may cause and contribute to redness and swelling.
While there is no cure for the condition, laser treatments for rosacea have become the treatment of choice for countless Dallas residents who want to relieve their symptoms and improve the appearance of their skin.
What Are Laser Treatments For Rosacea?
At Mara’s Med Spa, we offer exceptional treatments for various skin conditions. But our favorite rosacea treatment involves using the advanced technology and precision application of Venus Viva. Venus Viva is a non-surgical technique that uses NanoFractional Radio Frequency to produce heat from wavelengths of light which collapse the visible, tiny red blood vessels that are a calling card of rosacea.
The Venus Viva applicator wand features a tip with tiny pins that penetrate the epidermis and deliver radio frequency energy deep into the layers of the skin. The unique pin pattern creates small micro-dermal wounds in the treatment area. These wounds then send signals to the body to produce a natural healing response that generates more collagen. More collagen means younger, healthier-looking skin.
As the body heals itself, you will see smoother skin texture and tone and reduced redness and irritation in the areas affected by rosacea.
At Mara’s Med Spa, we have found that Venus Viva laser treatments for rosacea deliver the same or better results as CO2 treatments but without the pain. It also works on all skin tones, and there is little to no downtime following your treatment session, especially compared to other types of lasers.
How Laser Treatments for Rosacea Feel?
To ensure comfort during your rosacea treatment session, Mara’s experienced medical estheticians will apply a topical anesthetic that takes around 20 minutes to take full effect. Once the anesthetic has fully taken effect, your esthetician will deliver the radiofrequency (RF) bursts to the treatment area using a hand-held applicator. The procedure will take about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the targeted area. You may feel slight warmth and pinprick sensations, but the topical anesthesia should minimize discomfort.
Before your session, do not apply cosmetics, creams, lotions, perfumes, or powder, and avoid prolonged sun exposure. Please let us know during your free consultation if you have any other skin conditions in the areas we plan on treating.
After Treatment Care
One of the advantages of Mara’s laser treatments is how quickly you can return to your everyday routines. You may experience some redness during the first 24 hours as the body’s immune system and healing processes repair the micro-damage caused by the radiofrequency bursts. But after that first day, you’ll be able to return to your regular skincare routine and resume normal activities immediately.
During those first 24 hours following your treatment session, we advise you avoid using cosmetics in the treatment area, having a massage, or taking hot baths or showers.
