Popular Med Spa Treatments Are Popular Because They Work
At Mara’s MedSpa in Dallas, we offer a full and wide-ranging menu of popular med spa treatments focused on improving your appearance, your confidence, and your sense of well-being. But some med spa treatments are unquestionably more popular than others.
Here are the five med spa treatments that our clients ask for the most.
1. Botox
Whether you know it or not, someone you know has probably had Botox injections to address wrinkles, lines, and other facial imperfections. Botox has been the most common minimally invasive cosmetic procedure performed in the United States by leaps and bounds. Also referred to as Dysport or Xeomin, Botox cosmetic injections are made from botulinum toxin A. Approved by the FDA over 20 years ago, Botox injections are extraordinarily safe, with one study finding an amazingly low 0.24 percent rate of complications. That means that there is a 99.76 percent chance of zero complications!
But the reason Botox is so popular is that it works. Optimal results take around two weeks to fully appear, but you’ll see a significant difference just a few days after your procedure. Botox is especially beneficial for treating:
- Appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Lazy Eye
- Cervical dystonia (neck spasms)
- Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
The effects last for about three to four months. Regular “Preventative Botox” treatments can also slow the progression or delay the development and appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
2. Dermal Fillers
Injectable dermal fillers work by attracting water to the injection site and jumpstarting collagen production at and around the treatment area. Along with a related protein called elastin, collagen is the substance that gives our skin a healthy texture and shape. Increasing the amount of collagen in your skin will improve your skin’s volume and texture. In combination with the filler itself, this boost in collagen production increases the volume of the area under the skin, stretching it and thereby reducing and fading wrinkles.
There are many kinds of FDA-approved dermal fillers, including those like Juvéderm and Restylane that are made of a naturally occurring substance called Hyaluronic Acid (HA).
In addition to being minimally invasive, quick, safe, and proven, injectable dermal fillers are powerfully effective at addressing a range of common facial imperfections. Dermal fillers can:
- counteract the volume loss that is a natural part of the aging process and a primary cause of wrinkles
- restore fullness to flat or sunken cheeks and temples
- reduce prominent vertical lip lines
- improve lip volume
- smooth out creases and furrows in the chin
- improve the general contours of the face
3. Laser Hair Removal
For decades, dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons have used safe, controlled, and precisely calibrated laser light to address a wide range of conditions and skin imperfections, including unwanted body hair. Laser hair removal involves removing hair by exposing the hair shaft to pulses of laser light to destroy the hair follicle.
Laser hair removal will make your life easier and spare you from the frustration of continually battling hair growth where you don’t want it. The minutes you spend in treatment sessions will pale in comparison to the hours upon hours you will save by no longer needing to epilate, shave, or apply removal creams as often as you used to. After just a few treatments, epilating and shaving become far easier since there are fewer strands to target.
The most common areas for laser hair removal are:
- legs
- armpits
- upper lip
- chin
- bikini line
But while these are the most common areas, laser hair removal can be done just about anywhere on your body that has unwanted hair. The caveat is that laser hair removal should not be done on eyelids, and is typically not performed on tattooed skin.
4. Body Sculpting
Also called body contouring, body sculpting refers to a wide variety of aesthetic non-invasive and non-surgical treatments designed to reshape and improve the appearance of your body.
We offer several body sculpting treatments at Mara’s MedSpa, including Coolsculpting, which can be used to target fat on:
- abdomen
- lumbar
- hips
- inner thighs
- knees
- Saddlebags
- arms, and
- ankles
Also referred to as cryolipolysis, this process selectively targets fatty tissue without harming the dermis by carefully delivering controlled cooling to the fat cells underneath the skin. These cells ultimately crystallize and die. Your body then processes the fat and gets rid of the dead cells, leaving behind a more toned and sculpted body.
5. Microdermabrasion
Just as a professional cleaning by your dentist gives your teeth a much deeper clean than regular brushing, microdermabrasion goes beyond day-to-day exfoliation to remove dead or damaged skin and bring fresher, younger, more vibrant looking skin to the surface. Our microdermabrasion treatments in Dallas involve using a minimally abrasive instrument to gently sand your skin, removing the thicker, uneven outer layer.
We use microdermabrasion not only as a method of exfoliation but also as a way to treat a variety of common skin imperfections, including:
- acne and acne scars
- stretch marks
- dull-looking complexion
- uneven skin tone and texture
- Melasma
- sun damage
- fine lines and wrinkles
- hyperpigmentation, age spots, and brown spots
- enlarged pores and blackheads
